NY man steals ATM, loads it onto stolen school bus

WESTBURY, N.Y. (AP) — Police say a Long Island man was arrested after he broke into a grocery store, stole an ATM and loaded onto a stolen school minibus.

Nassau County police tell Newsday that 61-year-old David Hughes broke the glass door of a Bravo supermarket in Westbury early Friday.

Police say Hughes grabbed the store's cash machine and loaded it onto a yellow school bus that he had stolen earlier.

Hughes was arrested later Friday in Queens after someone called police to report a suspicious person in a school bus. He was awaiting arraignment Saturday on charges of burglary and grand larceny.

It wasn't clear if Hughes had an attorney who could speak on his behalf.
