Newborn found in trash pile in Queens

NEW YORK (AP) - Police say a newborn baby boy was pronounced dead after being discovered in a pile of trash at a Queens playground.

A passer-by found the infant at about 10:45 a.m. on Saturday at the Dutch Kills Park in the Astoria section of Queens. The baby was in cardiac arrest.

The medical examiner is working to determine the cause of the child's death.

Emergency medical technicians took two other people at the scene to the hospital, but it wasn't clear whether they were connected to the newborn.
