New York-area subway, bus, rail fares go up
NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - On the heels of toll hikes at the MTA's bridges and tunnels a few weeks ago, the fares for subways and buses in New York City went up Sunday, April 20.
The subway, bus and paratransit base fare will stay at $2.75 but the bonus will be eliminated.
The weekly unlimited-ride MetroCard will now cost $33, an increase of 3%.
The 30-day unlimited-ride MetroCard rises $6, from $121 to $127, a 5% hike.
Fares on the Metro-North Railroad and the Long Island Rail Road are also increasing by various amounts.
