New Jersey firefighter dies from injuries suffered on duty

KEASBEY, N.J. (AP) — Authorities say a New Jersey firefighter has died as a result of injuries suffered while responding to an emergency two months ago.

The Keasbey Fire Department said in a Facebook post on Saturday that Deputy Chief Thomas Kolarick died Wednesday after responding to an incident on Sept. 17.

The statement says Kolarick was a 41-year veteran firefighter and served numerous roles including fire chief and president.

A public viewing will be held Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Mitruska Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Mitruska Funeral Home.

A message left with the department on Sunday seeking more details was not immediately returned.
