Never-before-seen 9/11 photos of Pres. Bush released
NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - Newly released photos are shedding light on the Bush administration in the hours after the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.
Taken by President George W. Bush's official photographer, the photos were released to PBS Frontline following a Freedom of Information Act Request.
The photos by Eric Draper show Bush at an elementary school in Florida where he learned of the hijacked airliners flying into the Twin Towers, aboard Air Force One as the Commander-in-Chief was shuttled around the country to his return to the White House late in the day.
"Capturing that story was difficult. I had to focus on being in the right place at the right time and push back the emotions that I was feeling to truly capture the story," said Draper in a 2015 interview.
Others show the President meeting with senior staff and preparing to deliver a speech to the nation.
Frontline published a selection of the photos released on Friday.
