NBA star leaves game due to bedbug bites
NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - Cleveland Cavaliers point-guard Kyrie Irving didn't have the flu after all. The NBA star admitted Monday night that the reason he left the game on Sunday against the Oklahoma City Thunder was because he had been bitten by bedbugs.
"Just imagine how freaked out you'd be if you saw friggin' five, big bed bugs just sitting on your pillow," said Irving. "I woke up itching and I'm just looking around and I'm like, `Are you serious right now? It was 3 a.m. and I was so tired at that point."
Irving played nine minutes Sunday night before leaving the court feeling nauseous.
The team had stayed at the Skirvin Hilton in Oklahoma City.
He appeared in much better spirits Monday when he spoke with reporters about his close-encounter with the blood-sucking critters.
