Murder-suicide in NJ motel: Cops

SOUTH HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) -- Authorities say a "domestic kidnapping" ended with a man and a woman being found dead at a motel in an apparent murder-suicide.

Bergen County prosecutors say the kidnapping happened in Paterson. They say the man and woman had been in a relationship, but it wasn't clear if they were still dating.

Paterson police investigating the kidnapping went to the Knights Inn in South Hackensack around 8:30 a.m. Monday.

But when the officers announced themselves, they heard gunshots and found the man and woman dead in the room.

Authorities have not said who fired the fatal shots or disclosed other details about the kidnapping, citing the ongoing investigation. The names of the two people killed have not been released.
