Monmouth County bank hold-up

EATONTOWN, N.J. (AP) — Police are searching for an unknown gunman who held up a Monmouth County bank and made off with an undetermined amount of cash. The robbery took place around 9:20 a.m. Thursday at the TD Bank near Wyckoff Road and state Route 36 in Eatontown.

Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni says the thief fled on foot toward Laurel Gardens Apartments following the heist.

Eatontown Memorial Middle School and Vetter Elementary School were placed on temporary lockdown as a precaution while officers searched the area for the suspect.

Police say they are looking for a black male wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and baggy jeans. He was armed with a semi-automatic handgun.

The FBI assisted at the scene along with K-9 units from Tinton Falls police and Monmouth County sheriffs.
