A driver fleeing police went the wrong way on the Henry Hudson Parkway, slamming into another vehicle, late Tuesday night.

The NYPD tried to stop the red Dodge Caravan in the Chelsea section of Manhattan at about 11:40 p.m., according to police. But the driver took off and traveled northbound in the southbound lanes of the parkway striking a Subaru at 79th Street.

The 53-year-old driver of the Subaru rushed to Mount Sinai-St. Luke's Hospital in stable condition. A female passenger, Olga Ilina, 54, of Fair Lawn, New Jersey, died.

The driver of the Dodge minivan, a 23-year-old man, and a 34-year-old male passenger were rushed to hospitals. Police later took them into custody while the NYPD's Collision Investigation Squad investigates the crash.

No charges have yet been filed.
