Man who paid with phony money assaults clerk
NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - The NYPD is searching for the man who assaulted a store clerk in the Bronx after handing him a counterfeit bill.
The incident occurred on April 28 at about 3:35 p.m. inside the CS 99 Cents Store & Plus on East Gun Hill Road.
The man attempted to buy a pack of t-shirts but pulled the $20 bill he was paying with away when the store clerk used a counterfeit detector pen.
The suspect grabbed the t-shirt pack as he attempted to take the fake bill back, too.
The 35-year-old employee chased the man outside when the suspect punched him several times before fleeing northbound on Decatur Ave.
The clerk was treated at the scene for a cut to the face.
Police describe the susepct as a male Black, 20-35 years old, 6ft tall with a mustache.
He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap with yellow lettering on the front, a black hooded sweater, dark colored jacket, black sweat pantsand yellow boots.
