Man stabbed while sleeping in subway

A man sleeping in the New York City subway was stabbed early Monday.

It happened on the F line at the Broadway-Lafayette station in Lower Manhattan.  The man woke in the 6 a.m. hour to find he was bleeding from a stab wound to his leg.

EMS took him to Bellevue Hospital for treatment.  He was expected to survive.

The man says he slept through the attack and was not sure when our why he was attacked.

Police did not release any further details.
