Man placing parking cones down struck and killed

A 63-year-old man placing cones on a street in Brooklyn to secure parking for a cable TV production was struck and killed.

Pedro Jimenez, of Manhattan, was placing the cones along Douglas St. in Boerum Hill at about 4:20 a.m. on Monday when he was struck by a 2006 Ford Explorer traveling westbound, said the NYPD.

Jimenez was a production assistant on the Starz drama "Power".  He was taken to Brooklyn Hospital were he was pronounced dead.

The vehicle was driven by a 64-year-old man who remained on the scene.  The NYPD is investigating the incident.

SkyFOXHD was over the scene where the cones could be seen. Police taped off the area to conduct an investigation.

A Starz spokeswoman says that the network is "deeply saddened" by the death and that thoughts are with the Jimenez family.

Production on the series has been suspended. It isn't clear when production will resume.

"Power" stars Omari Hardwick as a drug kingpin and nightclub owner.
