Man gets 21 to 47 years in 2013 crash that killed 2
TOWANDA, Pa. (AP) — A man has been sentenced to 21 to 47 years in prison in a crash that killed a northern Pennsylvania couple almost three years ago.
A Bradford County judge imposed the maximum sentence Thursday on 48-year-old Roegester Grays of Lawrenceville in the March 2013 crash in Wells Township just over the state line near Elmira, New York.
Grays was convicted of homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence in the crash that killed 35-year-old Ryan English and 32-year-old Karen English.
The Star-Gazette of Elmira reports that President Judge Maureen Beirne told Grays during sentencing that he had failed to learn anything from numerous previous drunken driving arrests and had shown "no remorse and no sorrow."
Defense attorney Ronald Travis called the case "a very tragic situation."
