Man crushed by elevator in Brooklyn
NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - A 37-year-old man was found dead with injuries to his head after he was crushed by an elevator in Williamsburg, Brooklyn Friday. Police say they responded to a 911 call at about 4:18 a.m. at 156 Hope St.
EMS pronounced the man, identified as Eran Modan, dead on the scene. An investigation into the cause of death was underway.
Police say Modan was visiting a friend at the apartment building. The elevator stalled with the doors open. As he tried to get out, it moved and crushed him.
Police told Fox 5's Linda Schmidt that there were a few violations with the building's elevator in 2013 but they were cleared up and there were no open violations on the building.
Modan's family lives in Israel and was contacted by the NYPD with the tragic news.
