Long Beach's Surf Week

More than 20 surfers are taking part NYsea's annual Surf Week in Long Beach. The five-day event celebrates surfing and the community. Surfers are judged based on a point system: how you catch and ride the wave and how much speed you get. Local and pros all compete for a $3,000 purse.

Surfer Jeffrey Anthony told me about some of the best moves. He said some of the worst weather gives way to better waves. That is something that Owen O'Donnell, 12, is using to his advantage as one of the youngest in the competition.

On Saturday the adults skateboard competition will take place. I'm told participants will have just as much fun as the surfers.
