Racial graffiti was spray-painted on the front gate of NBA star LeBron James' home in the Brentwood area overnight, police said.

The graffiti, which included the N-word, was on an outer gate of the residence, said Los Angeles police officer Aareon Jefferson. The address was not disclosed. No arrests were reported.

According to TMZ, investigators are looking for security footage from neighbors that may show the suspect or suspects. TMZ also posted a photo of police vehicles outside the home as the gate was being repainted.

LeBron purchased the home in 2015 for more than 20-million dollars. James is getting ready for Game 1 of the NBA finals on Thursday in Oakland, but took time out to talk about this hate crime against him and his family.

"My family is safe... that's the most important. " LeBron James reacted for the first time to news that vandals spray painted a racial slur on the front gate of his Brentwood estate. "No matter how much money you have... no matter how many people admire you... being black in America is tough." said James.

Neighbors in the upscale enclave had strong words for the vandals.

I'm sickened... I'm disgusted... it's a horrific action."  said Mary Kay Wulf, who lives two doors down from LeBron James. Her sister is in town visiting from Ohio and coincidentally grew up in LeBron’s hometown.

"He still loves Akron... still gives back to our community in a way that is extraordinary. For somebody to come here and to demean it in the way that they have done is unconscionable." said, Jody Konstand.

The LAPD is investigating the incident as a hate crime and are checking security cameras in the neighborhood. Meanwhile, as the six-time NBA Champion is about to go for his 7th title, a sober reminder of the struggles facing black America.

Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors, starts Thursday.
