'Invisible Thread' Off-Broadway

A new Off-Broadway show was inspired by the work of the Peace Corps in Uganda. Zachary Kiesch explains how the trip turned two volunteers into playwrights. The show is called "Invisible Thread."

Matt Gould and Griffin Mathews were shaped by the people they encountered. That shared experience and willingness to rock the boat of thought is on full display in "Invisible Thread."

Mathews stars in and wrote the show with Gould. It's an electric journey into self-exploration, humility and beyond.

The two are originally from Pittsburgh and L.A. but the story is rooted in the motherland: West Africa. To give the show that raw authentic feel, they took the cast there last summer. That growth and connection to a community are alive and well on this dirt-covered stage. Nicolette Robinson, who plays Eden, and her cast mates navigate it well.

The show - just perhaps - plays on the contradictions that live in all of us, and pulls.
