Hunt for pair in deadly punch of bystander

NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - The NYPD has identified two people wanted in connection with the deadly punch to an innocent bystander in Queens back in June.

Matthew Smith, 42, who is 5'11" tall and weighs approximately 230 lbs, is seen on surveillance camera video punching Patrick Gorman, 64, on the corner of Main Street and Queens Boulevard on June 26.

Gorman died a short time later at Jamaica Hospital.

Smith was walking with Elena Makarova, 39, seen on additional surveillance camera footage, added police. She is described as 5'3" tall and approximately 174 lbs.

It is not clear why the NYPD announced the assault earlier this week, months after the deadly attack.
