Here are some ways to remember our troops this Memorial Day
WASHINGTON - Are you looking to observe Memorial Day in the spirit of the day? Here are some ways you can observe Memorial Day beyond the usual backyard barbecue:
- Take a moment to participate in the National Moment of Remembrance, and pause for one minute at 3 p.m. local time in an act of national unity.
- Purchase a “Buddy Poppy” from a VFW member to help support veterans in need.
- Memorial Day is a day of mourning so flags should be flown at half-staff until noon and then at full-staff until sundown.
- If you live nearby or have time for a trip, visit one of our nation’s historic battlefields.
There are many ways to observe Memorial Day, but don’t forget to take the time to remember those who sacrificed everything for our country.
