Gregg Allman to be laid to rest next to brother, says manager

Gregg Allman of The Allman Brothers Band knew the end was coming, according to longtime friend and manager Michael Lehman. The legendary musician died on May 27 at the age of 69 after a recurrence of liver cancer.

"He was in a good place. I spoke to him on Saturday the day he passed and he said he was ready to let go," said Lehman.

About six months ago, the cancer had returned and started to spread.

"He chose to embrace the balance of his life. He actually got married for the seventh time," Lehman told FOX 5 NY morning program, 'Good Day New York.'

About a year ago, Allman completed a new album that is expected to be released in September.

He will be remembered at a private funeral in Macon, Georgia with family and very close friends. He will be laid to rest Saturday in Rosehill Cemetery in Macon right next to his brother, Dwayne Allman, and band member Barry Oakley.
