Formula E electric racecars hit Brooklyn streets
NEW YORK (FOX 5 NEWS) - This weekend Formula E brings its first race to New York City. This is one of the series' nine stops across five continents.
Formula E Racing isn't your typical motorsport race so the drivers let us know what to expect.
The fully electric, single-seater racing series is in its 3rd season. It uses temporary street circuits, like the one at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal. There will be 10 teams and 20 drivers competing on a 1.95-kilometer circuit that has 10 turns.
In the ongoing efforts to conserve energy, Formula E has teamed up with Enel to make this the first zero-emissions event in the championship's history.
The event is sold out but more tickets may be released over the weekend.
You can check out the races all weekend long on TV. They will air on Fox Sports 2 Saturday night and on Fox 5 on Sunday afternoon.
