Forest fire in NJ Pine Barrens
WOODLAND TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) -- Firefighters are battling a forest fire that has consumed hundreds of acres in New Jersey's Pine Barrens. The fire broke out on Monday in Woodland Township, Burlington County.
Officials say no homes are in danger. There's no word on any injuries. Current containment lines are expected to hold the fire at 1,000 acres.
Fire crews will be working throughout the night.
Officials are warning residents in surrounding communities that they may smell smoke.
It's unclear what sparked the fire.
