Firefighters save kitten wedged in fence

The Sacramento Fire Department helped rescue a kitten Tuesday morning found hanging from a fence with its hind legs wedged between the slats.

"As the Captain supported the kitten's front legs, the firefighter did some quick work with a screwdriver, and she was freed," a caption on the accompanying Facebook video reads.

"Engine 57 handled an unusual animal rescue this morning. Responding to a call for a cat stuck in a fence, the crew found a small kitten hanging with her hind leg wedged firmly in between two fence slats. As the Captain supported the kitten's front legs, the firefighter did some quick work with a screwdriver, and she was freed. The kitten is on her way to the Front Street Animal Shelter, and will be available for adoption after today."
