Federal agents, NYPD cops bust drug and gun rings

In two separate takedowns, federal agents and police officers arrested more than a dozen suspects for allegedly selling and making guns and gun parts, pushing pills, and dealing other drugs. Now the NYPD and Homeland Security Investigations say the streets of New York are a little safer.

Richard Laugel, 38, was recently released from prison, law enforcement officials said. Now the Bronx man is back behind bars.

Homeland Security Investigations Special Agent in Charge Angel Melendez said that when they went to execute a search warrant, they found an arsenal and 3D printer allegedly used to make gun parts.

The second big takedown was in Queens. It involved the Trinitarios gang. Police said the raid yielded drugs, cash, weapons, vehicles, and other tools of their alleged illegal trade.

Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea said both takedowns happened because of seamless information sharing. He said these takedowns are not the end of the line for enforcement and are actually just the beginning of new investigations to uncover who else may be involved.
