Falling planter kills boy outside Brooklyn home

An 8-year-old boy climbing up a window of his Brooklyn home died when a planter box fell on him, the NYPD said.

Kevin Reilly grabbed the 6-foot concrete flower planter, which came loose and fell on his head, police said. It happened at the boy's home on Ryder Street in Marine Park around 5:30 p.m.

Medics and police responded to the home and found him unresponsive with head wounds. EMS brought him to Coney Island Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
