Fake Uber driver robs, threatens to kill passenger

The NYPD is asking for the public's help tracking down a man who posed as an Uber driver and threatened a female passenger.

The woman had called for a ride and got into the black 4-door sedan in the early morning hours on Saturday in Manhattan.  She thought it was an Uber ride.  Then she noticed they'd passed her exit.

The man demanded money and threatened to shoot and sexually assault her, according to police.

The woman handed over an iPhone, wallet, $20, a debit card, a MetroCard, a jacket and a pair of gold earrings.

She was able to escape unharmed when he stopped at a red light on Park Avenue.

The suspect is described as black, in his 30s, with short hair, dark skin and a beard.
