Elevated lead levels in some Parsippany schools
NEW JERSEY (FOX 5 NEWS) - Another New Jersey school district has uncovered dangerous levels of lead in schools. School officials in Parsippany decided to test the water in its schools after Newark revealed it had a problem with lead.
The highest sample tested over 18 times the federal limit. Lead was found in water samples at Parsippany High School, Parsippany Hills High School, Knollwood Elementary School, Central Middle School and Eastlake Elementary School. Eastlake Elementary has five water fountains with lead levels more than the federal limit of 15 parts per billion.
The district is working with the Parsippany Department of Health to find a permanent solution. Students are getting bottled water for now.
