COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A judge in South Carolina has ruled that Dylann Roof is competent to face a death penalty trial in killing of nine black worshippers at a church.

The judge held a two-day competency hearing earlier this week. Roof is charged in the June 2015 attack at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston. Jury selection will begin Monday.
