Driver speeds down Brooklyn sidewalk striking boy

A man driving a black sedan tried to get away from police by speeding down a busy sidewalk in Brooklyn Thursday afternoon.

The driver and an accomplice had used counterfeit money at several businesses before the chase, according to cops.

As the car mounted the sidewalk on Lee Ave. at about 4 p.m. to bypass rush-hour traffic, the driver struck a boy, 9. He suffered a leg injury and was expected to recover.

Video shows shopkeepers running after the car and throwing trash cans, trying to stop the driver, as pedestrians flee.

One person was in police custody and a second was being sought.
