Driver charged in crash that killed 2 teens in NJ
NORTH BERGEN, N.J. (AP) — Authorities say a man driving with a suspended license struck and killed two teenagers and critically injured another.
Hudson County prosecutors say 23-year-old Eric Patterson faces two counts of death by auto and one count of assault by auto. The Jersey City man was due to make his initial court appearance Monday afternoon, but it wasn't clear if he's retained an attorney.
Officials say 17-year-old Bryan Rodriguez and 16-year-old Noel Herrera were longtime friends who were walking home when they were struck around 9:15 p.m. Saturday in North Bergen. Witnesses have said the car crossed over two lanes and went over a curb before it hit the teens, who were on a sidewalk.
Seventeen-year-old Manny Sanchez suffered multiple fractures to his legs and other injuries. He remained hospitalized Monday in stable condition.
