Two dogs attacked and critically hurt a child in Brooklyn Friday evening, officials said.

The 5-year-old boy was rushed to Long Island Jewish Medical Center in critical condition, the NYPD said.

The attack happened at about 6:20 p.m. on Riverdale Avenue in East New York.

The dogs are believed to belong to the boy's family, police said.

Animal Care and Control in Manhattan has taken custody of the dogs.
