Did Melania Trump Rickroll the RNC?
CLEVELAND, Ohio - While the internet was busy arguing over whether or not Melania Trump took the words right out of First Lady Michelle Obama's 2008 Democratic National Convention speech, something else happened that you might have missed: a Rickroll.
It appears that Donald Trump's wife's speech at the Republican National Convention contained -- be it intentionally or unintentionally-- a Rickroll. Speaking about her husband's commitment to his country in prime time on the convention's first night, Melania Trump said, "He will never give up. And most importantly, he will never, ever let you down."
Unless you've been living under a rock, you already know that the prank known as "Rickrolling" happens when Rick Astley's 1987 hit "Never Gonna Give You Up" winds up in unexpected places-- like an email to your friend, or in this case-- a speech on national television.
And of course, Astley's lyrics go like this:
Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
So was it the most epic public Rickroll of all time -- or just coincidence?
