Deli worker wrestles gun out of robber's hands

The NYPD has released surveillance video of a deli worker managing to wrestle a handgun from a man who walked behind the counter and assaulted him after the worker refused to hand over money from the cash register.

Cops said the man placed an order for food at the Habib Deli on East 187 Street in the Bronx before taking out his gun and threatening the worker.

The video shows the robber repeatedly striking the worker with the gun as a struggle unfolds.

The employee manages to take the gun from the robber who then flees from the store along Hoffman Street.

The store worker was treated at a local hospital for injuries to his head and face.

The would-be robber is described as a male, black, in his 20s. He was last seen wearing a blue sweatband, a black hooded sweater, dark-colored jeans, black sneakers and had on a black backpack.
