Decapitated farm animals found in bag outside thrift shop

A Salvation Army thrift shop manager unloading a truck on Long Island made a startling discovery inside donation a bag that was emanating an odor.  It happened Monday at the Front Street location in Hempstead.

The large bag contained the carcasses of a decapitated chicken and a goat and its severed head, according to the Nassau County Police Department.

Hempstead's Animal Control Division removed the dead animals, police said.  If anyone is caught in connection with the case they could face animal cruelty charges and health code violations for improper disposal of an animal carcass.

Detectives are investigating and ask anyone with information to call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-244-8477.

The Nassau SPCA is also offering a $2,000 reward for anyone who provides information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case.
