Dead cat found hanging from shed

WARNING: DISTURBING PHOTO ABOVE – Authorities on Long Island are looking to bring whoever committed a "blatant act of animal cruelty to swift justice."

Someone found the remains of a cat hanging its neck from a shed on Michigan Avenue in the Bay Shore/Brentwood area on March 29, according to the Suffolk County SPCA.

"We can use the public's help. The Suffolk County SPCA is highly motivated to find those who are responsible for this heinous act," the group said in a news release. "The investigation continues as we follow up leads and conduct interviews.

The Suffolk County SPCA is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of whoever did this.

A veterinarian is set to examine the female cat to determine how she died.
