Creative hats, costumes at NYC's Easter Parade

NEW YORK (AP) — Top hats with bunny ears and elaborate costumes have gotten a showing in New York City's Easter Parade.

The event runs along Manhattan's Fifth Avenue every Easter Sunday. It started in the 1880s as a strolling display from people wearing their finery outside churches. It has morphed into an expression of the creative and sometimes zany.

Hats in an assortment of colors were bedecked with flowers Sunday. Even the animals got into it, with at least one dog wearing its own pastel-colored outfit.
