Cops looking for Hamptons burglars who stole watch worth thousands
BRIDGEHAMPTON, N.Y. (FOX 5 NY) - The owner of a pricey Swiss watch stolen in a burglary in the Hamptons last fall is offering a big reward to help catch the thieves, police on Long Island announced.
Four people broke into a home on Ocean Road in Bridgehampton in the evening of Dec. 8, 2018, according to a news release from Detective Sgt. Lisa Costa of the Southampton Town Police. They stole several items, including a Breguet Marine timepiece with the serial number 5071 visible on the watch face.
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Southampton Town Police detectives on Tuesday released a photo of the stolen watch and a grainy image of the burglars in case someone might know something.
Breguet Boutique 5th Avenue in New York City told FOX 5 NY that the watch pictured in the photo appears to be model number 5817.
A search of online dealers shows that the luxury watch, even pre-owned, could sell for between $10,000 and $15,000, depending on the variant and condition.
The homeowner put up a $5,000 reward for information that puts the thieves behind bars.
