Police shot a burglary suspect in Queens Monday afternoon. Near the shooting, a woman was also wounded in the head with a piece of debris. Initially, reports said that woman was shot, too. But police later said she was cut on the head in an unrelated incident.

The gunfire erupted inside a home on Hull Avenue near 66th Street in Maspeth.

A woman using a remote home surveillance device called 911 to report seeing a burglar inside a home, the AP reported. She let cops into the home, where one officer confronted a suspect and shot him in a struggle.

"The suspect fled the building. He was chased on foot by officers who apprehended him approximately one block away, in a rear yard," Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said. The 38-year-old suspect has an "extensive record of prior burglaries," he added.

The FDNY said medics took two people to hospitals in serious condition.
