Cop guns down ex-wife, authorities say
Authorities say an off-duty police officer shot and killed his ex-wife and wounded her boyfriend at a northern New Jersey home.
JEFFERSON, N.J. (AP) -- Authorities say an off-duty police officer shot and killed his ex-wife and wounded her boyfriend at a northern New Jersey home.
Essex County prosecutors say Newark police Lt. John Formisano was arrested early Monday at his parents' home in Livingston, not long after the shooting occurred in Jefferson.
Formisano, 49, is a 24-year veteran of the force.
Authorities have not released the name of Formisano's ex-wife or her boyfriend or provided further details about his injuries.
It also wasn't clear if anyone else was in the home at the time of shooting.
