College professor curses conservative student

A community college in New Jersey has issued an apology after one of its professors was captured on video cursing at a student who considers himself a conservative.

Howard Finkelstein used the vulgarity to Christopher Lyle during a debate about sexual harassment, in a Sociology 105, Intercultural Communication class, saying "f--- your life."

In a statement released Wednesday, Brookdale Community College said: "the faculty member acted in an uncivil manner." The school said the matter remains under investigation and it will determine "an appropriate course of action."

Lyle told the Asbury Park Press he was singled out because he is conservative and supports President Donald Trump. He said he doesn't want the professor fired or to lose retirement benefits.

The professor did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment.

Monmouth County freeholders Tom Arnone and Lillian Burry issued a joint statement on the County Faceboook page in response to the situation saying: “We stand in full support of the Brookdale Community College administration and know that they will handle this matter in a professional manner to ensure that no student at Brookdale will be subjected to a hostile environment on their campus. It is the job of Brookdale’s faculty and staff to nurture the educational and personal growth of each and every student and we are confident that appropriate measures will be taken if any actions are found to be in conflict of this goal.
