What was supposed to be a surprise Kanye West show in New York City quickly turned to chaos as thousands of fans descended on the venue. More than 4,000 people swarmed Webster Hall, which only holds 1,500, early Monday morning for the supposed pop-up show.

A mob climbed on top of cars, dumpsters and scaffolding and hung out of windows hoping to get a better view as West rode down Third Ave. standing through the vehicle's sunroof. Some also climbed onto cars parked on the streets outside the venue leaving dented and damaged roofs.

The secret show was hinted to start at 2 a.m., and according to West's Twitter page was 'sold out' by 1 a.m.

West was scheduled to headline the popular Governor's Ball music festival on Randall's Island, the the shows were canceled Sunday due to the weather.

Instead, West took the stage Sunday night as a surprise guest at Summer Jam, a rap and hip hop concert hosted by radio station Hot 97 and held annually at MetLife Stadium

Shortly before 2 a.m., Webster Hall said they were unaware of the event suddenly in the works by the controversial rap star and tweeted that there would be no show. Police then worked to disperse the crowd.
