Bethenny Frankel's on-off boyfriend found dead in Trump Tower

The on-again-off-again boyfriend of "Real Housewives of New York City" star Bethenny Frankel was found dead on Friday in Trump Tower in Manhattan, the medical examiner told Fox 5 News.

The NYPD said Dennis Shields, 51, was found dead in the 5th Avenue Midtown Manhattan tower, but declined to confirm the cause of death. Shields has had a romance with the SkinnyGirl mogul since 2016.

The Medical Examiner's office is currently investigating Shields' cause of death. According to the New York Post, Shields, who was living at Trump Tower at the time of his death, asked his assistant to administer Narcan at 9 a.m. The Post reports he died of a suspected OxyContin overdose.

Police told Fox 5 News Shields was dead on arrival.

Frankel and Shields appeared together on Bravo's "Real Housewives." He was filmed with the popular cast member during the show's most recent season. When she first introduced him on the show she said the pair had known each other for 30 years and he contacted her after a divorce.

A rep for Frankel did not immediately return Fox News' request for comment.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner told Fox 5 News that the investigation is ongoing and the cause and manner of death will be released when completed.

Shields was the chief executive officer of LawCash, a pre-settlement funding company that provides loans to plaintiffs of lawsuits.

His biography on the firm's website said that he had written two published novels and was currently working on multiple other literary projects.
