Bebe Neuwirth back on stage in New York
NEW YORK (FOX5NY.COM) - Bebe Neuwirth is as comfortable on stage as a chef is in the kitchen. Born in Newark, New Jersey, this Juilliard grad can sing, dance, act, and has a zest for life that is contagious. She credits being in touch with her inner child.
In the 1980s, Bebe nailed the role of Lilith, Dr. Frasier Crane's wife on "Cheers." She reprised the role on the spin-off "Frasier'" and eventually won two Emmys for her portrayal. Although initially, she had her doubts about playing Lilith. She said the character made her laugh and the writing on "Cheers" and "Frasier" was some of the best in TV.
Bebe won a Tony in the musical "Sweet Charity" and again for her portrayal of Velma Kelly in "Chicago." She later returned to "Chicago" in 2006 as Roxie Hart and in 2014 as Mama Morton. Did she ever get confused playing three roles in one production? She said sometimes she did.
During her show "Stories with Piano, #1" at Feinstein's/54 Below, she plans to use snippets of everything she has done to entertain you: vignettes, story songs, and more.
