Bank robbery prompts school lockdown
SYOSSET, N.Y. (AP) -- Police say two bank robbery suspects have been arrested following a police chase and crash on Long Island.
The incident caused the Syosset public schools to be placed on lockdown.
Police say the suspects robbed a bank in Bay Shore shortly after 9 a.m.
Police say they were captured about 20 miles away in Syosset after crashing on Jericho Turnpike and fleeing to a nearby apartment complex.
Suffolk County Deputy Police Commissioner Tim Sini says one suspect was injured, while the other was taken to a nearby precinct. One police officer suffered a knee injury.
Sini says reports that shots may have been fired are not true.
Police planned a briefing later to discuss the investigation.
