Australia celebrates first same-sex wedding after legalizing same-sex marriage

Australia saw its first same-sex wedding Saturday, one week after legalizing same-sex marriage.

Lauren Price and Amy Laker were married just outside of Sydney after a two-year engagement.

The couple was exempt from the country's 30-day waiting period due to unnamed circumstances.

Local media reports that that a second couple said "I do" later that day in Melbourne.

Australia became the 26th nation to legalize same-sex marriage on December 9th, after an overwhelming vote in favor of the bill passed through parliament.
