An Austin area father and son have been killed in the terrorist attack in Nice. The U.S. State Department confirmed that two U.S. citizens were killed in the attack and a spokesperson for the family confirmed that that the two killed were Sean Copeland and his son Brodie.
The statement says:
"We are heartbroken and in shock over the loss of Brodie Copeland, an amazing son and brother who lit up our lives, and Sean Copeland, a wonderful husband and father. They are so loved."
Sean was 51 and Brodie was 11. The Copelands lived in Prosper before moving to Lakeway.
The statement says the Copelands were on an European vacation visiting Pamplona before heading to Nice to celebrate Bastille Day.
The statement goes on to say the "unthinkable and unfair act of terror took Sean and Brodie from the world far too soon. It is a terrible loss."
Meanwhile Hill Country Baseball made a post on its Facebook page about Sean and Brodie. The two were involved with the organization.
At least 84 people were killed in the attack and almost 20 others were seriously injured when a terrorist drove a large truck loaded with guns and hand grenades into a crowd that had gathered for Bastille Day fireworks display in the southern French city.
A GoFundMe account has been set up for the Copeland family. You can look at it here.
