Attempted rape in Union Square

The NYPD is on the hunt for a man who tried to sexually assault a 63-year-old woman inside a public bathroom in Union Square Park. 

The NYPD is on the hunt for a man who tried to sexually assault a 63-year-old woman inside a public bathroom in Union Square Park. The attempted rape occurred at about 1:15 p.m. on Sunday, October 18. The victim told cops she was inside the bathroom when the man confronted her and demanded that she perform a sex act. The woman fought off the attacker by biting him in the left hand, said police. He then fled. The woman was treated at a local hospital for pain.

The suspect is described by police as black, approximately 30 years old, with a thin build, short hair and a long goatee.

He was last seen wearing a green army camouflage jacket, an orange hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans and a backpack.

Cops released a sketch of the suspect Tuesday.
