Artist brings XXX back to Times Square

NEW YORK (FOX 5 NEWS) - In Times Square, where nearly half a million people from the tristate area and the rest of the world walk every day, all those just passing through now find 12 new places on which to sit, recline, and stay a while.

The Times Square Alliance commissioned these three pieces of street furniture, and the artist Juergen Mayer delivered "XXX Times Square with Love" -- three kisses, a nod to this place's sleazier past and an indicator of its location.

That seems one of those design tidbits few but the artist will ever recognize. Most see a trio of pink loungers on which to snap a selfie or comfortably observe different perspective of Times Square: the sky, one of those things at which we often forget to look when hustling through Manhattan's canyons of buildings.

In the therapy capital of the world, one of the more stressful locations in the city now provides us our own couch on which to recline -- at least until it stays clean -- continuing the transformation and improvement of what the Times Square Alliance calls one of the great public spaces.
