Arrest in angry mom attack on elderly woman
NEW YORK (FOX5NY) - The NYPD says it has arrested the mother who was so offended by an elderly woman's comments about her son that she beat the 71-year-old with a cane.
The older woman was about to step into the elevator at the Q station at East 86th St. in Manhattan Monday afternoon when she was pushed aside by Breonna Turk, 24, of Manhattan and her son.
The elderly woman told Turk that she should teach her child some manners and that he should wait for people to come out of the elevator, according to police.
Turk became enraged and slapped the elderly woman, knocking her to the ground before punching her and striking her with her cane, said police.
A Good Samaritan stopped to help the victim.
"She just beat me up," the woman told the NY Post. "I'm in a lot of pain."
The NYPD put out an alert that it was searching for the assailant.
Turk was arrested on Wednesday. No further details were available.
