Airman killed while trying to stop robbery

NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - A 23-year-old Air Force senior airman was killed Friday night inside an Arkansas gas station when he tried to intervene in an armed robbery.

Shawn McKeough was fatally shot around 11:30 p.m. inside a Valero Big Red gas station in North Little Rock.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The North Little Rock Police Department says two suspects entered the store armed with guns.  They are both in masks. McKeough was a customer at the time.

On of the men was wearting a panda bear had and a red scarf over his face.  The other was wearing a black Nike jacket with a black hat covering most of his face.

McKeough was remembered as a popular airman and called a hero by friends.

The two robbers remain at large.  There is a $10,000 reward in connection with the case.
